Tests performed
They play a vital role in determining the quality and durability of concrete. These laboratories are an important testing and analysis centre for perfecting concrete mixes, securing the longevity of projects and verifying compliance with standards.
- Material AnalysisThe components of concrete — aggregate, cement, water and admixtures — are analysed rigorously in the laboratory. These analyses help adjust the mix proportions for optimum performance.
- Strength TestsConcrete samples are subjected to various strength tests at set intervals to assess how strong the concrete is and whether it meets the specified standards.
- Tensile and Compressive StrengthSamples are crushed in the compression press to verify the strength values corresponding to the design class.
- Environmental TestsDurability checks for exposure classes such as freeze–thaw, chloride attack and sulphates.
- Flow and Bond TestsThe consistency, slump-flow and workability properties of fresh concrete are measured.
